Microchipping

Permanent Identification for Your Peace of Mind

A microchip is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help your pet find their way home if they ever become lost.

Our mobile veterinary service provides safe, quick, and reliable microchipping in the comfort of your own home, making the process easy and stress-free for both you and your pet.

Whether you’ve welcomed a new puppy or kitten, adopted an older pet, or need to have your pet’s microchip checked, we’re here to help.

What Is a Microchip?

A microchip is a tiny electronic chip, about the size of a grain of rice, that is implanted just beneath your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades.

Each microchip contains a unique identification number that can be read using a scanner. This number is linked to your contact details on a recognised pet registry, allowing veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and council rangers to identify your pet if they are found.

Unlike a collar or tag, a microchip is permanent and cannot be lost or removed during everyday activities.

Why Is Microchipping Important?

Even the most well-behaved pets can become lost due to unexpected events such as storms, accidents, open gates, or unfamiliar environments.

Microchipping provides a permanent form of identification that significantly increases the chances of being reunited with your pet.

Benefits of microchipping include:

  • Quick and safe procedure
  • Increases the likelihood of a successful reunion if your pet becomes lost
  • Accepted by veterinary clinics, councils, and animal shelters throughout Australia
  • Required under legislation in many Australian states and territories
  • Permanent identification for the lifetime of your pet

The Microchipping Procedure

Microchipping is a simple procedure that takes only a few moments.

During your appointment we will:

  • Perform a brief health check
  • Scan your pet to confirm they are not already microchipped
  • Implant the microchip beneath the skin using a sterile applicator
  • Scan the microchip to confirm it is functioning correctly
  • Complete the required registration paperwork for NSW Pet Registry

Most pets tolerate the procedure very well. It feels similar to a routine vaccination and does not require anaesthesia.

Keeping Your Details Up to Date

A microchip is only effective if your contact information remains current.

If you move house or change your phone number or email address, it’s important to update your details with your pet’s microchip registry as soon as possible.

In NSW, all dogs and cats must be registered on the NSW Pet Registry, which is managed by local councils. You may also choose to register your pet with a private Australia-wide pet registry. While optional, this can be beneficial if you relocate or travel interstate with your pet.

Mobile Microchipping

Having your pet microchipped at home offers several advantages.

Our mobile service allows your pet to remain relaxed in familiar surroundings while avoiding the stress of travelling to a veterinary clinic.

This is particularly beneficial for:

  • Young puppies and kittens
  • Nervous or anxious pets
  • Senior pets
  • Multi-pet households
  • Owners with busy schedules

We bring professional veterinary care directly to your door, making the process convenient for the whole family.
